We’re expecting up to 30mm of rain, winds up to 50km/h and hail.
Mexico City authorities, specially
proteccion civil
, tend to over react to extreme weather, like when they cancel class because some boroughs were hitting under 3C.
So they issued A YELLOW ALERT.

30mm? How much its that in USD?

I though rainfall was read in mm all over the world
30mm is a “heavy shower” according to the USGS, more than 50mm is considered a “violent shower” for context

In the US, rainfall is measured in inches. 30mm is just over 1 inch. Turn around, don’t drown.

yup, about 1.1/5 inches

there is no known conversion rate from mm to USD. Please try converting both to time units and see if that will help.

Oh, he’s referring to USD system, not
USD.
USD stands for Universally Stupid Dimensions; the imperial unit system if you will.

America is one of those places on the planet, where we do things... differently from the rest of the world. We have cars that are built in both... metric and imperial system. Our speedometers have both KM/H and MP/H measurements. When you ask us anything about metric system, we shrivel up and die. We measure things in lengths of football fields and weight things in jumbo jets.
How many football fields of rain will fall on your village there, bad hombre? 1/4294967296 of a football field? Well, shoot. That aint enough to wash the snot off my F150.

My village is more populated than your largest metropolitan area*... but I digress.
With 30mm and hail it might aswell be like pressure washing that
Ford Lobo
of yours!
*: I know you’re joking.

So that’s 2 hog heads of rain and 1.3 king’s fist of wind.
Damn stay safe.

You could say we better run to higher ground, probably 1.2 empire states so that we don’t suffer the immediate effects of the 2 hog heads of rain per square amputated king pinky finger.

I guess 30mm is a lot for your area? I recall getting almost 24 freedom units/ 610mm in a 24 hr period when I lived in Houston. But in Denver we only got 11 freedom units / 280mm for all of 2017.

I don’t know how they measure it, but in the rainy season we see a peak average of around 190mm in the month of July.

Is that a lot of rain? We’re used to hurricanes here in Nova Scotia where 70+ mm of rain can happen with 120kph winds.

We don’t have hurricanes here, I don’t know how they measured it, if it was with mm/hr or mm/event or mm/day but it is, according to the USGS a “heavy downpour”
